Mushroom Log Inoculation Workshop - October 19th or October 26th at Sylvatica Forest Farm in Berea, KY
OVERVIEW:
Join us at Sylvatica Forest Farm to learn how to inoculate your own edible mushrooms on logs! This is a great way to grow mushrooms in your backyard, in a forest or on your farm. With a one-time inoculation, your log can fruit for up to 6 years!
We will be inoculating Shiitake mushrooms in their desired species of wood, giving you an understanding of the basics of growing mushrooms so that you can do it yourself with many other types of mushrooms.
You will also learn about their culinary and medicinal uses and best ways to turn them into shelf-stable products.
REGISTRATION:
This workshop will sell out so don't wait!
$80 with the option to take home an inoculated log (or logs!) of your choice for an extra $40 each. Register below.
We'll have a little pop-up market afterwards with our other offerings, including fruit/nut/native trees, herbal Apothecary products and fresh mushrooms!
WHAT TO BRING/NOT BRING:
We thank you for not bringing your pet.
Children are welcome.
Bring proper footwear, water bottle, snacks and outdoor weather gear -- we will be mostly outdoors and hiking in the forest.
Warm herbal tea and fresh spring water will be provided.
Bring extra cash if you might want to buy an inoculated log or any of the offerings listed above.
IMPORTANT: This workshop will involve intermediate level short hiking with some slippery spots and elevation. If this is an issue, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
