Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop - March 15, 2025

$80.00

OVERVIEW:

Join us at Sylvatica Forest Farm to learn the wonderful skill of grafting, used to propagate all types of fruit and nut trees, roses, tomatoes and more.

In this workshop, we will be grafting rootstocks of apple and pear on registered rootstock with proven cultivars that produce quality fruit.

We will begin with intros, then do a short theory of grafting history, why someone would bother to graft and basics of certain grafting techniques, including timing, field and bench grafting, seasonal strategies and successes/failures.

We will then get into a solid couple hours of hands-on grafting to get you comfortable with this old-time propagation skill! I will also be discussing knife sharpening techniques.

WHEN: March 15th from 10am to 1pm

WHERE: at Sylvatica Forest Farm - Directions here

COST - $80 per person, includes one tree that you grafted yourself and the option to buy more grafted trees for an extra $20 each.

There is no cell service in the area so please download the directions above prior to leaving your home.

This workshop will sell out so don't wait! Registration below by adding to cart.

We'll have a little pop-up market afterwards with our other offerings, including grafted fruit and nut trees, herbal products from the Apothecary, fresh mushrooms (hopefully!) and more.

WHAT TO BRING/NOT BRING:

We thank you for not bringing your pet and children. This is an adult only workshop.

WARNING! We will be using extremely sharp and dangerous blades in this workshop.

If you have a sharp non-serrated knife that you love or a utility knife with several replacement blades, please bring these with you. I will have some grafting knives and utility knives for people to practice with.
